Beauty from within: How herbs as food influence skin health.

Skincare begins on the plate

Healthy skin isn't just about external care – our diet also plays a crucial role. Herbs, often underestimated as mere seasonings, are particularly rich in valuable nutrients that can positively impact the complexion and overall health of the skin. Whether consumed as tea, fresh ingredients, or in smoothies, they provide antioxidants, vitamins, and anti-inflammatory agents that work deeply. In this article, we'll explore how herbs contribute to skincare from within – and what that has to do with Quellmed Skincare products.

Herbs as natural skin boosters

Many herbs contain a high concentration of bioactive plant compounds, vitamins, and minerals. These not only have beneficial effects on the body but also on the skin. For example, rosemary, with its antioxidant properties, helps protect cells from oxidative stress. Parsley is rich in vitamin C, which promotes collagen production. Chamomile has a calming effect, especially on sensitive or irritated skin. Sage and thyme, with their antimicrobial properties, help with blemishes.

Regularly incorporating these herbs into your diet – for example through teas, herbal mixtures or freshly chopped leaves – can help reduce inflammation, strengthen the skin barrier and promote the skin's natural radiance.

The influence of diet on skin appearance

The skin is a reflection of our inner balance. A nutrient-rich, plant-based diet can contribute to a clearer, more even complexion in the long term. Herbs play a special role here, as they provide a wealth of skin-relevant micronutrients in concentrated form. Their phytochemicals have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects and regulate the skin microbiome. At the same time, certain ingredients promote blood circulation and support skin regeneration.

Not only in cases of acne or blemishes, but also in cases of dry, sensitive or mature skin, a targeted diet with herbs often shows visible improvements.

Using herbs in everyday life

Herbs can be easily integrated into everyday life – without any complicated recipes. Fresh herbs like parsley, basil, or coriander not only enhance dishes but also provide valuable nutrients. A rosemary or chamomile tea in the evening can have a calming effect and simultaneously support antioxidant levels. Smoothies with mint or lemon balm are refreshing and strengthen the skin from within. Hot infusions with sage or thyme are also easy to prepare and can have anti-inflammatory properties.

Natural care meets inner balance

We consciously avoid irritating additives and rely on the power of natural ingredients to soothe, strengthen, and regenerate the skin in the long term.

A glimpse into the future: Rosemary in the new shampoo

We are currently collaborating with a local, family-run manufacturer on the development of new shampoos – in both liquid and solid form. For the first time, rosemary is being used as a plant-based active ingredient. Thanks to its circulation-boosting, clarifying, and soothing properties, rosemary is particularly well-suited for sensitive or easily irritated scalps. These new products naturally complement our existing range and remain true to our core principles: honest, effective skin and hair care based on healing spring water and carefully selected ingredients.

The official product launch will follow shortly – a small preview of what's to come.
